Juneteenth: Black Matter Art Show and Artist Panel Discussion

Join Art in Oregon for a special Juneteenth celebration in Portland’s Pearl District, honoring Black creativity, community, and dialogue through the exhibitions BLACK MATTER and BLACK MATTER SALON, on view at Studio 516 Gallery and Blackfish Gallery.

The evening begins with a panel discussion at Blackfish Gallery featuring artists Ebony Frison, Jocelyn Rice, Eddie Reed and Tammy Jo Wilson in conversation about the importance of investing in contemporary Black artists and creative practice. Guests are then invited to continue the celebration at Studio 516 Gallery for an evening of art, jazz by Machado Mijiga, food, and community gathering.

Located just a short walk apart, the two exhibitions offer a unique opportunity to experience the breadth and depth of work created by the BLACK MATTER family of artists while celebrating Juneteenth through art, reflection, and connection.
